Roof leak repairs in Werribee

Out on the Werribee plains, a lot of leaks only show up when the wind drives the rain sideways. We find where it's getting in, whether that's a lifted sheet, a flashing or a gutter backing up, and fix that point.

Roofs in Werribee

When the rain comes in sideways.

Werribee has everything from post-war homes and older weatherboards around the town centre and the river, through 1970s and 80s brick veneer, to the large estates built from the 1990s onwards. That means old iron, concrete tiles and newer metal roofs, often within a few streets of each other.

Werribee sits on flat, open plains with very little shelter, and strong winds come through regularly. That changes how leaks behave: water gets pushed sideways under laps, up under ridge capping and behind flashings, so a roof that's dry in steady rain can leak badly in a windy storm. Gusts also loosen fixings and lift sheet ends over time.

On the newer estate homes, leaks are less about age and more about details: box gutters and parapets on modern designs, valleys between roof sections, and flashings around skylights, solar mounts and flues. Each of those needs checking when a newer roof leaks.

  1. Step 1: Tell us what you're seeing

Where the water shows, when it leaks and which way the wind was blowing all help narrow it down.

Common questions

Roof leak repairs in Werribee, answered.

Anything not covered here, call 0403 652 357 and ask.

Why does my Werribee roof only leak when it is windy?

Because wind pushes rain where it can't normally go: up under laps, behind flashings and under ridge capping. A roof can be fine in steady rain and leak in a gusty storm. Tell us which way the wind was blowing when it leaked; it narrows down where to look.

Can solar panels cause roof leaks?

They can, if the mounting brackets or cable entries weren't flashed and sealed properly when the panels went in. We check the roof around solar mounts and penetrations as part of tracing a leak. If panels need to come off to fix it, that's a job for a solar installer, and we'll tell you before anything is touched.

Is it worth repairing an older Werribee roof, or should I replace it?

If the leak is one fault on an otherwise sound roof, repair it. If the iron is rusting through in several spots or the tiles are failing across the roof, a replacement may work out better than repeated repairs. We give you straight advice either way.
